Tip of the Week
Situation In setting up insurance
coverage on an existing patient, I found the Insurance Plan that I want
to assign to the patient, but it has a different Group Number. Should I
create a new Insurance Plan, or change the Group Number on the existing Insurance
Plan? Solution If the employer offers two different plans, they will have two different group numbers. In
that case, create a new Insurance Plan (even if it's provided by the
same Insurance Company). If the employer has changed insurance companies (i.e. - the Insurance Plan you found is invalid),
or the group number for the existing
plan has changed, select the existing Insurance
Plan. Make sure to open the Insurance Plan window after assigning the coverage and update the
appropriate info (e.g. - Insurance
Company, Group Number, etc). Additional Info: In the DAISY program, an Insurance Plan is the unique combination of 3 criteria: 1. Employer 2. Group
Number 3. Insurance
Company ID When searching for an
existing Insurance Plan, find one that matches all 3
criteria. If you can't find a match, create a new Insurance Plan. YOU ARE
